Pangandaran Beach offers two distinct sides: the lively West Beach for beach volleyball and surfing, and the East Beach with its famous fresh seafood hub.
Pangandaran Beach is located in Pangandaran Regency, West Java. Originally part of Ciamis Regency, the area formed its own autonomous regency in 2013 under the name Pangandaran Regency.
Pangandaran Regency is endowed with diverse attractions spanning pristine coastlines, rolling hills, dense nature reserves, and winding rivers. Its most celebrated destination is Pangandaran Beach, situated close to the town center. The coastal strip boasts two equally mesmerizing sides. The western side, known as West Beach (Pantai Barat), features wide sandy shores perfect for beach volleyball, sunbathing, and surfing. The eastern side, known as East Beach (Pantai Timur), serves as a bustling seafood culinary hub where visitors feast on freshly caught marine delicacies. Because the two coasts sit back-to-back across a narrow isthmus, travelers can easily stroll between them or rent bicycles. At the tip of the peninsula lies a lush nature reserve where deer and monkeys roam freely.
Getting to Pangandaran is straightforward. Travelers using public transit from Bandung can take direct intercity buses to Pangandaran. Direct buses are also available from Yogyakarta. Pangandaran bus terminal is conveniently situated near the coast, allowing visitors to walk directly to the shoreline upon arrival.
